Terms and Conditions

1. About DebugCause

DebugCause is an AI-powered software platform that assists engineering teams in investigating Python production errors, identifying potential root causes, and generating draft pull requests containing proposed fixes and regression tests.

The Service is designed to assist engineers and does not replace human review or software testing.

2. Eligibility

You represent and warrant that you have the legal authority to enter into these Terms on behalf of yourself or the organization you represent.

If you are using the Service on behalf of a company, you agree to these Terms on behalf of that company.

3. License

Subject to these Terms and any applicable subscription agreement, DebugCause grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to install and use the Service for your internal business purposes.

You may not:

  • Resell or redistribute the Service.
  • Make the Service available to third parties.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software except where permitted by law.
  • Remove copyright or proprietary notices.
  • Use the Service to develop a competing product.

All rights not expressly granted remain the property of DebugCause.

4. Customer Data

You retain all ownership of:

  • Source code
  • Repositories
  • Stack traces
  • Logs
  • Configuration files
  • Prompts
  • Investigation results
  • Any other data processed by the Service

DebugCause does not claim ownership of your data.

5. Self-Hosted Deployment

The production version of DebugCause is intended to run entirely within your own infrastructure.

You are responsible for:

  • Infrastructure provisioning
  • Network configuration
  • Security controls
  • Backup procedures
  • Access management
  • Compliance with applicable laws

Unless expressly agreed otherwise, DebugCause does not receive access to your repositories or production systems.

6. Hosted Trial

DebugCause may provide a hosted evaluation environment for trial purposes.

Trial environments are provisioned in isolated infrastructure for evaluation only.

Unless required by law, trial environments and associated customer data will be permanently deleted within seven (7) days after the trial ends if no commercial subscription is purchased.

7. Bring Your Own LLM (BYO-LLM)

DebugCause supports multiple language model providers, including self-hosted models and compatible APIs.

You are solely responsible for:

  • Selecting an LLM provider
  • Managing API credentials
  • Paying model usage costs
  • Complying with your provider's terms and policies

DebugCause is not responsible for the availability, pricing, accuracy, or behavior of third-party language models.

8. AI-Generated Output

The Service generates AI-assisted analyses, code modifications, recommendations, and draft pull requests.

AI-generated output:

  • May be incomplete.
  • May contain errors.
  • May not identify the true root cause.
  • Should not be considered production-ready.

Every output must be reviewed, tested, and approved by a qualified engineer before deployment.

You are solely responsible for any code merged into your repositories.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Access systems without authorization.
  • Generate malicious software.
  • Assist cyberattacks.
  • Violate applicable laws.
  • Infringe intellectual property rights.
  • Process data you are not authorized to access.

DebugCause may suspend access if these Terms are violated.

10. Security

DebugCause is designed with a self-hosted architecture intended to minimize customer data exposure.

You remain responsible for securing:

  • Infrastructure
  • User accounts
  • Secrets
  • API keys
  • Repositories
  • LLM endpoints

11. Confidentiality

Each party agrees to keep confidential information received from the other party confidential and to use such information only for purposes related to the Service.

Confidential information does not include information that:

  • Is publicly available.
  • Was already lawfully known.
  • Is independently developed.
  • Must be disclosed by law.

12. Intellectual Property

DebugCause retains all rights, title, and interest in:

  • Software
  • Documentation
  • Logos
  • Branding
  • Trademarks
  • Product design
  • Underlying technology

These Terms do not transfer ownership of the Service.

13. Third-Party Services

The Service may integrate with third-party products including GitHub, GitLab, OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, cloud providers, and observability platforms.

Your use of third-party services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.

DebugCause is not responsible for third-party products or services.

14. Fees and Payments

Paid subscriptions are billed according to the pricing agreed at the time of purchase.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Fees are non-refundable.
  • Taxes are your responsibility.
  • Failure to pay may result in suspension or termination.

15. Refund Policy

If your purchase includes a money-back guarantee, you may request a refund within thirty (30) days of the purchase date by contacting raghav@debugcause.com.

Approved refunds will be issued using the original payment method within a reasonable period.

16. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE."

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DEBUGCAUSE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING:

  • Merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Accuracy
  • Reliability
  • Availability

DEBUGCAUSE DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT:

  • THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE;
  • ALL BUGS WILL BE IDENTIFIED;
  • AI OUTPUT WILL BE CORRECT;
  • THE SERVICE WILL OPERATE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION.

17. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DEBUGCAUSE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Indirect damages
  • Incidental damages
  • Consequential damages
  • Loss of profits
  • Loss of data
  • Business interruption
  • Loss of goodwill

IN NO EVENT SHALL DEBUGCAUSE'S TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE TOTAL FEES PAID BY YOU DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

18. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DebugCause and its affiliates from claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising from:

  • Your misuse of the Service.
  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your infringement of any third-party rights.

19. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time.

DebugCause may suspend or terminate access if:

  • These Terms are violated.
  • Payment obligations are not met.
  • Continued access presents security or legal risks.

Upon termination, your license immediately ends.

20. Changes to the Service

DebugCause may improve, modify, or discontinue features at any time.

Reasonable efforts will be made to provide advance notice for material changes where practical.

21. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated periodically.

The revised version becomes effective upon publication.

Continued use of the Service after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

22. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of India.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiations.

If the dispute cannot be resolved within thirty (30) days, it shall be referred to arbitration in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The proceedings shall be conducted in English.

23. Force Majeure

DebugCause shall not be liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, internet outages, cloud service failures, labor disputes, governmental actions, cyberattacks, or other force majeure events.
